About La jambe de Clovis

A personal perspective on Angoulême, its stories, places and the details you discover when you take your time.

Where the project began

Telling the stories of Angoulême differently.

La jambe de Clovis grew from a simple wish: to introduce Angoulême through its stories, streets and viewpoints, beyond the usual routes. A way of seeing the city differently, taking time to notice its traces of the past, its details and the places we sometimes pass through without really seeing. The project explores Angoulême through its stories, heritage and photography. It takes an interest in both major events and small anecdotes, familiar buildings and quieter corners, with particular attention to what is sometimes hinted at rather than shown.

Behind La jambe de Clovis - Pierre Baele

A project rooted in the city.

I live in Angoulême and created this website to share a different view of the city, beyond comics. Through stories and photographs, I explore its history, places, heritage and sometimes overlooked details. I also host Le Vaubana, an apartment designed as a starting point for discovering Angoulême and exploring the Plateau.

An editorial approach

Choosing, rather than listing everything.

The places, stories and images presented here are not intended to form a tourist directory. They are selected through a personal lens: that of a city lived in, observed and explored.

Le Vaubana

A base for discovering the Plateau.

Le Vaubana naturally extends this approach. From the apartment, Angoulême unfolds on foot, along the ramparts, squares and narrow streets, taking in the places that give the neighbourhood its charm.
